Q: Does Flaxseed Oil contain EPA and DHA?
A: Flaxseed oil does not contain EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosapentaenoic Acid). EPA and DHA are non-essential omega-3 fatty acids obtained from marine fish sources. Flaxseed oil (obtained from flaxseeds) is a plant source rich in the essential omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid. Alpha-linolenic acid is metabolized to EPA in the body.
